Where can I find support in the event of conflict or difficult situations during teaching?
In the course of normal university life, conflicts can emerge in various contexts, such as performance requirements and grades, communication in a seminar, good academic practice, the role of intellectual property and copyright, and power relationships in academic supervision, but also in the contexts of abuse and bullying. Advisory resources do not exist for all types of conflict and categories of employees at Freie Universität Berlin.
The Diversity and Anti-Discrimination Office at Freie Universität Berlin is the point of contact for complaints and advice in cases of discrimination.
Employees of Freie Universität Berlin can take advantage of the Continuing Education Center's offerings for further training in conflict management.
The Berlin Leadership Academy offers counseling and training for professors at the W2 level and above, including conflict resolution.
Teachers can contact the Center for Academic and Psychological Counseling for advice on dealing with students experiencing mental health issues.
Further training opportunities and counseling centers within and outside Freie Universität Berlin can be found under Resources.
